El Norte is a sympathetic portrayl of the trails of illegal immigrants. The film follows a brother's and sister's struggles as they leave their Guatemalan village for what they hope is a better life in "El Norte". A powerful film! We have edited the DVD version after transfering it from the VHS version for language and violence to be more accessible for classroom use. We are happy to offer a 41 minute edited classroom disc along with the original uncut version on one single disk. ©1983. 41 minutes and 133 minutes. Spanish with English subtitles, includes a little Mayan. Not rated.

El Norte is a moving and enjoyable film. The edited version is particularly impressive.

Pros -

Whoever edited the \"for the classroom\" version really did an outstanding job and deserves credit for a job very well done!
